Title: Advice - rear doors rubbing paintwork
Post by: david25 on May 31, 2015, 05:16:39 pm
Hello, can anyone tell me if there is an official fix for the rear doors rubbing the paintwork?

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Flx3.smugmug.com%2Fphotos%2Fi-kbL9Lxk%2F0%2FL%2Fi-kbL9Lxk-L.jpg&hash=e41729e6a6b990d6477ed80af8ece5c1504f3230)

I found a few links to American forums but no official recall / TPI

Thanks

I've got something similar on mine, rear doors only, both sides but not quite as bad as yours. I can't see anything that's causing it, can't feel anything when I close them and the gaps all round the doors look spot on so don't think it's a case of them not aligned  orrectly, strange really.

Same on my more door, just looks like dirt on the rubber, and it's slowly wearing away the paint.

Thanks for the comments so far, I am not the only one then.

I have found some other posts, http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2756426-Defect-Door-seal-rubbing-paint-off

The car is booked for scheduled visit to the dealer on Monday. I will report back.

Have a look at my build thread about half way down this page. I was suffering the same issue and gut some precut film from VW.

No worries mate. Thats a shame. Fortunately I managed to catch mine before it had rubbed through the paint.
