I'm going to drop the coolant today in order to change the thermostat. Does anyone know what the capacity is? Is it G12 or G13?
-
I used 4.2L but i also changed the water pump.
-
Blimey is that all? I have just been looking at VW Vortex and people are stating it's 8 litres, I guess that is with a completely dry system? I was going to get two 5 litre bottles of ready mixed G12 do you think I could just get away with one? I'm going to completely flush the system with the hose.
-
One 5L will do it unless your going to flush the system.
-
Cool, I doubt I'll be able to flush all the old coolant out so I'll stick with one 5L :happy2:
-
I think u need to use VCDS to flush the system.
-
I have VCDS but I don't recall seeing any options to do this on there?
-
I think its to monitor the coolant temp.

In the throws of doing this now actually... is it an easy enough job to do? I've got an 07 Match FSi and I can't see it ever being done in the service book...
The current stuff in there is pink in colour so I'm guessing its original VW. So I'm looking at some G13? I know it's backward compatible with G11/G12 etc.
So where do I start? Completely cold engine, I read mixed reports about the Mk4/5 having a tap on the back of the radiator that you can access when the car is jacked up? Do you start there
