Quick question guys. Had the car fail her MOT at the weekend as when the guy had it up on the ramps there were small cracks in the rear coil springs... Now the dealers want 470 notes to fix!!!! Is this the perfect time to drop her on some lowering springs? If so my question is can I just swap out the springs or do I need to change out anything else? Just wondering what work needs to be done?
Thanks in advance guys

I've just ordered some springs, will be also changing the rear shocks as they are visibly worn, maybe front shocks and top mounts too.

I've just changed my springs yesterday as mine too were corroded and OSR spring had fractured. Spring change on their own should be fine unless condition of other components dictate change. Also budget for alignment after a few hundred miles. I fitted VW racing "sport" springs that say 20mm drop as I didn't want a slammed look (£135 GTI Inters price).

Perfect mate many thanks....

I'd look at Eibach Pro-Kit as well, pretty much the same ride height as OEM GTI springs. I don't know how good VWR springs are but I'm very pleased with my Pro-Kit on my GT Sport.
