I was experiencing poor radio reception in my last mk5. Couldn't work out what it was at the time.
Had the same problem in the Mrs Audi a1 which is only a year old. Turned out to be the usb cigarette lighter adapter I had plugged in was interfering with the radio.
I'm guessing that was the problem in the mk5 as I used the same adapter in that and I remember it being fine on the journey home after first buying the car.
Worth checking if you have one plugged in.

Curious...was this DAB or just FM reception?
