South Bend / DXD Racing Clutch / Flywheel Kits
What is "Silent Design" ?
The all new South Bend Silent Design clutch packages have all the same great qualities of the previous kits, except now they have eliminated all "chatter" issues. Clutch chatter is the "helicopter" like sound you will normally get when replacing the factory flywheel with a single mass flywheel. It occurs when the engine is on, not in any gear, with your foot off the clutch pedal. You will notice it to go away when pressing the clutch pedal in. This is not actually a problem, like some may think it is, rather a sound that not everyone can tolerate coming from their engine bay. If you are one of these VW owners, then this South Bend Silent Design clutch kit is for you.
Each clutch system is specially matched to specific driving styles, uses and power levels to insure the needs of each client are accomplished. Often times, a compromise between drivability and pedal feel must be made to achieve power handling. If you are drag racing you will have different requirements for clutch operation than someone who wishes to participate in daily spirited driving or endurance racing.
Daily
The Daily configuration is focused around an OEM pedal feel and initial engagement characteristics. This is the clutch that won’t give you a significantly stronger left leg but will provide many thousands of miles of ease of use and operation with the ability to transfer APR’s different Stages of engine performance to the tires. The quick engagement of most aftermarket clutches or the “grab” is greatly reduced and in most cases completely eliminated to allow for smooth clutch release and easy initial acceleration.
Stage II
The DXD Racing Stage 2 Clutch Upgrade is perfect for those who modified their engines to Stage 2 and Stage 2+ power levels. Offered in specific configurations of Daily, Endurance or Drag, the DXD Stage 2 is perfectly matched to your driving style and your specific use. Each Stage 2 Clutch is engineered to specifically support engine modification with increased clamp load and different material choices across the individual Stage 2 configurations. Each configuration includes all of the benefits of a DXD Racing Stage 1 Clutch Upgrade but also includes additional benefits specific to each.
Stage II Daily
This Heavy Duty Pressure Plate has an increased clamp load with little or no increase in pedal pressure. The Organic disc material has a high metal content that increases the co-efficient of friction by two times over a stock lining and increases rotational strength up to a 12,000 RPM burst point. This clutch system maintains a stock feel while offering strength and durability. Recommended usage is daily, street and moderate race.
