Clip broken off on caliper.

Hi,

Wonder if anyone with some brake knowledge can advise... My OH was cleaning the Golf today and hit a clip on the front caliper with the wheel woolie brush and caused it to ping off. So, is the car still safe to drive or will I crash and die?

That looks like the brake wear sensor wire holder so shouldn't be a problem as you can see nothing is actually clipped into them.

@Mandy Don't you have the left front caliper pad connected to the wear sensor?

it looks like an anti rattle spring clip , it takes up the play of the pad fit in the caliper you my notice it when you go from reverse to forward and vice verser , not expensive you sometimes get new ones when you buy new pads , and to fit you'll need to remove one retaining pin , not hard

For Brembo calipers you buy the anti-rattle springs as a kit that is sold separately.

Well I'm still here and not crashed the car...

Thank you for the helpful replies, so it looks like the anti rattle clip that has broken off. As long as the brake pads don't decide to fall out it should be ok. I don't know if these brake pads have the wear sensor or not, they're the Pagid RS4-2 pads...

Then the clip doesn't matter as there's nothing to slide into them
