So I don't want to come across as OCD or anything!  but  because my exhaust is probably the best feature on the car - I tried to clean them up.

1. I read some forums and bought AUTOSOL from halfrauds  and polished outside with microfibre and inside with wire wool.

after autosol

there was pitted areas and carbon etc. so I decided to get the rotary tool out with a soft green grinding stone(silicon carbide i think)(tried wire and sandpaper bits to no avail) which worked really well to get this:

I then bought some 120 / 600 /800 1500 2500 .
it takes soooooo *&^&& long and started raining so stopped.

it seems really hard to get leverage on the inside flared edge and I'm sure there must be an easier way  - any advice?

Good work!

I've done the same twice now and the difference really is worth the effort

Looking good!

Elbow grease, autosol and plenty of it! Slowly but surely it'll all be worth it in the end  :happy2:

Don't go too hard though as the tips are probably chrome plated and you don't want to rub through to the steel underneath. I have heard/read that giving them a coat of vaseline afterwards helps protect the chrome and makes future cleaning easier...acts like a barrier between the muck and chrome, never tried it myself though. Have found 5 mins every couple of weeks with a sponge and cloth works just fine

haha , I don't know about vaseline but  I will have a think about high temperature polish sealant and quick wipe every 2 week would probably be the best medicine - like you advocate! thanks
