Kenwood DNX volume knob
« on: February 21, 2017, 12:19:45 pm »
Anyone any ideas on how to replace the volume knob on a Kenwood DNX521 head unit?

The one I bought has a bit of wear on it and I can see replacements on eBay.

I imagine it just pulls off, it'll either probably have a flat on the spindle or be splined, I'd buy the new one and look at it and then work it out from there.

@Octoparrot How'd you find the hands free on it? Does it have a built in microphone or do you have to run the external?

I've never tried the hands free to be honest, something I've been meaning to do but never got around to. I don't think it has a built in microphone, mine came with an external one which I fitted by tucking the bracket into the join between the drivers side front pillar trim and headlining. I ran the cable along the top of the headlining (I just poked the cable up underneath the front edge) down the passenger pillar and behind the glovebox to the rear of the unit.
