Best Android head unit
« on: July 25, 2017, 07:07:39 pm »
Hi guys,

I bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Android-5-1-Head-Unit-Car-DVD-Player-DAB-SAT-NAV-OBD-CANBUS-For-VW-GOLF-MK5-V-VI-/302131740111? on my lunch break at work today thinking it'd fit the Mk5 GTI but I re-read the details tonight and it lists the Mk5 GTI as being suitable for the 2010-2012 years and the Mk5 Golf as 2003-2008.  It also doesn't have bluetooth which I should have noticed.

Can anybody recommend an Android head unit which fits the Mk5 GTI which has decent UI responsiveness (decent CPU / RAM) and supports bluetooth?  What are the go to brands / models people are using?

Thanks,
Mike

Why bother with an Android unit?

That money is so close to the RNS315 DAB (or in excess of the RNS315 that's for sale on here currently), that why would you bother with some cheap Chinese radio?  Fair enough if it turns out significantly cheaper, or if there is some android feature you couldn't possibly live without.  But the RNS 315 DAB gives you everything you need realistically.  Nav, BT, DAB etc...
