Hi all, just drive home from work and when pulling mediumly hard in 3rd 4th and 5th gear as the car hits 3000 revs the car stutters andjudders then carries on pulling and I get s light flashing on the dash for about 20seconds ( the one that looks like an engine). Then goes off. Can anyone give any advice on what it can be?I appreciate it cannot be solved on here but I'm seriously broke so I have to keep using it and may only get chance to have it looked at at the weekend. Also would this flashing light log a code or anything? Thanks in advance I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Could be one of the ignition coils breaking down under load creating the juddering i.e missfire?? or can you not tell?? very likely to be this if its only doing it under load.. hope this helps if the light has come on then yes.. the little engine light will only come on if the car sees the fault happen more than three times in a row if it only see the fault everynow and then it wont come so if you know anyone with vagcom get her plugged in  :happy2:

Sounds like a coil pack, anyone local to you with vcds. This is the only way you can be certain really, without logging the codes we can only speculate.

Yep I'd say 100% that was a coil pack.

I had to do 90 miles knowing I had a faulty coil pack. I'm sure as long as you don't use more than around 50% throttle you will be ok.  :happy2:
