Replaced the DV - Wow, what a trasformation!
« on: October 27, 2010, 10:16:52 pm »
Hi guys, spent the day at Awesome today, had a full service and cambelt etc. Also had the DV changed to the new D version.

The drive home was epic. Before it was changed, when I pressed the accelerator pedal all that really happend was a loud whistle sound, and hardly any boost...

Now the whistle has gone and the car pulls a millions times harder, its like a new car.

The old DV had 5 or 6 holes in it BTW.  :happy2:

Which version was the old one?  Got any pics?

How much did they rush you for the cambelt job?

I beleive it was the B vesion which was on the car before (uploading pics now)

Cant beleive the difference from a £50 part  :surprised: The old one obviously wasnt up-to-task.

It was £470 for a full 20K service, and cambelt and waterpump - all in.

Top service too.

:congrats: 470 notes is reasonable - did they change the waterpump too?

And that DV is well-fooked! :jumping:  I'm surprised you let it get that bad!  Anyway, the black diaphragm ones were the really early GTI variants, which were about as useful as a chocolate fireguard - yours must be an AXX engine.  The orange diaphragm versions hold up much better.

My turbo whistles a bit, and makes that *piss* ( :signLOL:) sound when letting off the throttle. Bare in mind mines an 07 plate, should i get the DV changed?

Yeah waterpump too mate!

I've only had the car a month or so, thought it was supposed to sound and pull like that that, always had N/A cars before

Is your inlet all standard?

Maybe just whip it off and inspect it - if you have an Eddy, it's easy to get to.

Yes bar an ITG panel filter and the Carbonio... but that makes ZERO difference except to have relieved me of 80 quid!

What age and mileage is your car Matt, and im guessing its standard, will just be useful to build up a picture, as it has seemed until now that the modified cars are having more DV issues due to the extra boost and strain.
