Service reminder? advice please!

My Gti has just flashed up on its midline display, 600 miles to service tho it doesn't need it as its just had oil, filter and fuel filter fitted and is just 2 years old next month with 26k on it. (and the VW service booklet says next service is at 37K or what will be the 40K biggie service).
Can I reset it myself and does that mean I am on T&D as I though I've read in the past if your on LL it won't flash up like that??

It sounds like the service indicator wasn't reset when you last had it serviced then 

I would take it back to the dealers as if you try to reset it, it will go onto T&D

What difference would it make if I do it myself? Found a link somewhere to do it rather than booking it into the dealer just for that!. I would want it on T&D if its not already on it, (Tho I thought Ive read somewhere if this comes up thats what its on!?, as opposed to LL)

If you reset it yourself using the buttons on the dash it will put it on T and D, you need vagcom to keep it on longlife.

I am experiencing this exact problem - had a massive service at the end of last year and now my car is telling me it needs a service in 7 days.

Forgive my ignorance but what is T&D? I have long life servicing so my car doesn't need a service for another year.

Went to my local VW dealership earlier in Newbury and they told me they couldn't reset it and that I'll have to take it back to Epsom in Surrey so they can do it which is where it had the last service due to some connections I had meaning I could get a good deal (was the cambelt change + a load of other stuff). Not exactly convenient...!

The car will generally tell you when it needs servicing based on how you drive it. Lots of short journies means frequent services.

Generally speaking, no GTI needs to ever be on Longlife servicing - you need Time and Distance servicing using Longlife oil

Get it serviced and tell them to change it back to T&D.
