Part numbers for camshafts
« on: June 13, 2011, 10:17:43 am »
Hi there everybody. I need to find the part numbers for the one and two piece camshafts that were used in the early and later gti engines. I have been speaking to Vw Technical about this as in America they are offering a ten year warranty on the camshaft and damaged pump etc due to the issues.  I'm curious why we aren't offered the same but he would like the relevant part numbers. Apparently he can't find them which is confidence inspiring,  not.

If anyone can provide them it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I havent got the numbers to hand, but the main reason we dont get it is that US trade laws are far stronger than the UK trade laws therefore if enough owners complain they are having problems, the courts will enforce a ruling on the company concerned stating that it must be resolved or they pay a massive penalty.

99% of the time they bow down, and thats why Volkswagen America now offer a 10 years DSG warranty for example.

VCDS Scanning/Coding, RNS and MDI retrofits, and specialist mechanics services with VAGtek available - Just PM me for details.

That will explain it then.  The guy hasn't even bothered to get back to me since I sent him the email he requested so that's the end of that.  Thankfully mine appears to be ok, touch wood.

Cheers.
