steering wheel functions
« on: March 17, 2011, 11:13:59 am »
Apologies if I'm repeating any previous threads but I can't find the answer via search.

I'm wondering as to what buttons do what on the MFSW. I've had my Golf a week and figured the volume up/down -  the settings one and the up/down for the display.

I can't figure out what the star does on the left hand side? I'm presuming the phone button is there for bluetooth enabled vw hu's. (only  got rcd300)

I've read people changing tracks etc via their steering wheel, I can't figure that one out either. Unless there's a second set of buttons!

Thanks

The star button mutes the audio, or can be programmed for voice dialling with a phone kit.

The phone button answers/ends the call with the VW phone kit.

To change tracks you need to select Audio on the high line menu and then use the up & down buttons. You can scroll through radio stations or tracks on a cd.

Just the answer I needed, appreciate the help! thanks.

Just one other function I'm unsure on. How does cruise control work? What buttons are they etc (I have no manual hence having zero clue)

the flipper on top turns it on and off, and the bottom on the rocker switch on the end sets the speed and the top button resets the previous speed.  when active you can also use the top button to speed the set speed up and down to reduce the speed.  you can stop the cruise by touching the brake pedal or by nudging the flipper up (if you move the flipper too far you will turn the unit off and loose the set speed.

cruise will only work above 15-20mph and I think most of the controls are printed on the stalk itself.
