Just wondered if anyone had fitted one instead of a IC. If not why not. Water can cool air alot faster than air can? It was only speaking to a friend with a clio running 450bhp and he swears by them.
Stage 2+ 280.4 bhp ITG, Revo Stage 2+, decat, hpfp, THS intercooler, THS engine mounts, Pcv revamp, sportline springs, rs4 fuel valve, DS2500 pads and brembo discs, braided lines, ATE super blue brake fluid and more to come

There isnt really a good place to fit one and you really need an extra rad to cool the water to the charge cooler which also means extra weight.  As you can get a nice big air cooler at the front there is no need plus an intercooler usually sees lower temps.

Cars with turbo engines in the boot/rear engined cars usually run charge coolers as its easier to run water to the back of the cars than have massive boost losses running an intercooler at the front.

The ktm xbow's standard charge cooler would see 50-70 degs intake temps, then it would usually split and chuck all the coolant into the engine!  The large uprated ones we do see 30 degs max intake temps on the 360bhp cars and around 40 degs with the 500bhp cars we build.

oh i see, thanks for that.

Yeh its a 1993 1.8 16v clio but he's spent nearly 20k on it if not more. Fully rebuilt engine and custon turbo etc. Stand alone fuel management system and ecu. Its clever as with that its progressive boost so it puts the power down quite well. Off the road atm though as it stretched the head bolts so he's having stronger custon ones made up and a solid copper head gasket. Silly money and not worth it on a car like that but it was quicker thank my 06 gsxr 600. a proper quick car :driver:

Maybe you could explore water/meths usage as an alternative...
