Water stain removal out of paint work
« on: June 29, 2011, 12:18:01 pm »
A kind sole at work noticed a seagull doing a bombing raid on the roof of my car. They kindly cleared it off with wet toilet roll then porred a bottle of water on the roof to dilute and wash off the left over bits.
The only problem is later yesterday morning the sun came out and was very very hot.
The puddles of water they left have etched in water mark stains   ive tried to polish it out with normal polish by hand last night but there not budging.
I seem to have what this website classes as type 2 marks and about 12 of them spread round the roof of different sizes were the deposits of water settled.  Never let bottled water go near your paint work !

That panel was spotless until yesterday .

Any product recomendations that may help remove them?

Thanks
Geoff.

Bottled water (or "mineral" water), had a lot of "minerals" in them like calcium which leave water marks. Have you tried the vinegar trick?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
