Forge BOV problem. + Coilover questions

hi there, I've fitted a Forge blow of valve to my MK5 GTI, i think its either been fitted incorrectly or its not working properly?

its hisses when i pull away and it all makes a hiss when ever you take your foot off the throttle, even if your doing like 5mph! 

it hisses when u release throttle then stops when you reapply it, but the if you don't it can hiss for up to 15 seconds! and comes to a sudden stop!

i didn't know whether to try the uprated spring or have it remapped and see if it resolves the solution?

Is there anybody in the Essex area that would be able to just have a quick look at it for me, i mean i'll sort you out a few ££s for ya trouble.

its really starting to annoy me and i may up end up just purchasing a Recirculating valve and sell the BOV if its ok.


Also peoples reviews on Pro sport coilys?
also which coilovers lower the Gti's the most without a stupid price tag!?

For good coilovers you need to look at spending £800+ at least. Bilstein B16, KW, H7R all offer nice kits.

Its not just the spacer its a complete new BOV? i think i may get the Recirc, but can u still hear it?
+ Will the sound change after remap?

Coilys: Im not really looking to spend that much on coilovers really, it looks like im going to have to look for some second hand in this case.

You don't a BOV, you probably have the Forge Diverter Valve with Optional Forge spacer which makes those silly hissing noises.
Simply take the spacer out and job done

theres no spacer mate, its just a complete unit, not spacer. been talking to few people tonight and it seems that i have the wrong spring in it.

so going to try that then hopefully it will be sorted.

Change the spring Joe, see if that helps. Wish I was closer would have a look over it myself.  Hope you resolve the problem soon  

With regards to coilovers, for just general road use I would recommend a set of AP's. We can do these for £471 inc delivery. I would steer clear of the really cheap coilovers.

I run FK sport edition plus in my GTI.  These are the lowest we can get for the MK5 GTI set up.  Most others are 20-25mm higher.  We sell budget kits as in £215 for FK AK Street to suit the GTI.  These go low but they are budget.  Just my opinions as with most things coilovers are the same.  The more you spend the better they get.

wont be the spring unless its broken. 5mph wouldnt even be on boost

Mine hissed really bad when one of the vaccuum hoses to the DV split, I just trimmed it back past the split and re fitted it

may have to have a look at this, still havent got around to it 

i tried fitting my AP coilovers the other day and couldn't get the old ones off, so i just put it back together and im going to try again next weekend, may take the whole hub off and knock it off

forgive me if you are aware and did this but you will need to spread the hub at the back were the shock slides into. Ive always used a chissel as i had a blunt one lying around and works perfectly. Without doing this you will stuggle to ever get it out or the new ones in. Spread it slightly and knock the hub down. May be worth spraying WD40 on it the night before. Hope it helps

yes mate thats what im going to do, But Duck oil so should help a hell of a lot.
