Basically some one hit my car last weekend, they have accepted responsibilty which is great even though its still going to affect my insurance for next 5 years booo.
Now the problem is i can take it to Volkswagen liverpool or the bodyshop i used for my bumper they did a good job but am i better off going vw???
Any opinions great unsure of how good volkswagon are really as i think its franchised.
Having had a little bump myself I've become a bit more clued up on insurance workings.
If the other party has admitted liability don't bother telling your insurance company about it as you'll have to pay your excess (though they will eventually get this back for you from the 3rd party if you have legal cover) and might hold it against you (though they shouldn't as its a no fault claim).
Either contact the third party's insurance directly and deal with them directly or get a claims management company involved to do the leg work for you. They will stick the bill to the 3rd party's insurance and sort you out with a hire car etc. You won't have to pay any excess or risk your NCB.
This is basically what your own insurance company would do except they would want the excess up front then get it to you when the paper work is sorted.
When you find the body shop you want to use, ask them which accident management company they use (they almost certainly will be affiliated with someone) and deal with them.
Unfortunately my 3rd party is not accepting liability so I'm having to shell out my excess and will take a hit on the NCB.
