Dual Zone Climate HELP!?
« on: January 25, 2012, 10:09:04 am »
My car has the dual zone climate in it. As my car never came with a handbook just the service book, ive never known fully or understood how to work it properly!? As long as i could get hot air out of it i was fine, summer just had the windows down. But whilst i was getting it serviced i had the air con regassed. Now i know this is a stupid question but howd you get the air con on? as there is no specific button as there is in other cars!? Is it just a case of turning the dial down untill it reads LO?! Which of the directional buttons needs to be iluminated? Do the vents need to be open? Also Econ and Auto what are these two buttons for?! Ive had it on LO after having it on fully hi for a while and it was cold........but not freezing cold as i expected?!

If auto is lit then the climate control will keep the temperature at whatever you have the dials set to using heat/air con. If econ is lit then the aircon is switched off

Was going to put as above too. As a side note to this, the compressor turns off anyway of the outside air temp is 4 degrees or lower.

Auto is a fully automatic climate control setting.  If you want your car teamperature at, say, 18 degrees then the climate control will get it there and keep it there.  If AC is needed to do that, then it will cut in.  If not, it won't.
Econ keeps the AC off, so it may not bring the temperature down enough in warmer weather.

On the later mk5's (on my 2008 model anyway) there is a specific A/C button which you can switch on/off in the logical fashion.. the earlier models had the ECON button, which works in the opposite way (when the light is on, A/C is off)
