As has been the case before... car runs fine this morning.. no hesitations like last night.

Popped it to the garage who plugged it in and it had these faults..

01089 EVAP emissions control system
Incorrect flow P0441 Upper limit reached intermittent

08567 Bank 1; system too lean off idle p2177 upper limit reached

Its going to have the fuel filter changed (they are due on 60k and mine is 59500 now so likely never been done and maybe a huge co-incidence but the running issues did start after I got stuck in the middle of no where and the only fuel I could find was cheapo Merrisons fuel). He is also going to check for inlet leaks.

He doesnt think its a coil pack as it seems to go back to running fine most of the time.

It sounds pretty similar to what happened with mine but mine worsened pretty quick and the car began stalling at random points. I did a fair bit of research into it and one of the things that kept cropping up was the cam follower (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,8339.0.html) so may be worth checking as its pretty simple if you get the correct tools. Might be worth a check?

Thanks... I'll have a look into it... although yours wasnt actually the cam follower in the end?... also mine isnt trying to stall... its just at very random times it seems to be very hesitant and jerky at low rpm... mainly after a long run.

Have I missed what your idle is like?

See if you can log missfire counter for all cylinders at idle  :happy2:

even when the problem is happening after a run.. the idle seems fine.

I've not got vagcom at the moment. (sometimes borrow the cable off a customer but i havent seen them in a while now)

I had a swine of an issue before xmas.

long story short (its all in my build thread) it was injector 3.

I had symptoms of duff plugs/coils/pcv and a couple of hiccups on idle VCDS was counting lots of missfires on cyl3 tho.  New injector cured it

which channels do you need to log. Its a pain in a way it doesnt do it all the time though. Like today when I took it to the garage it felt fine. Its very intermittent.

When I checked the missfire counter it was under basic measuring as I wasnt out logging just checking outside my house.

No need to choose channels like when doing specific logs, basic measuring has preset channels no 15 springs to mind.
