I agree with the previous post - paint vs coating, but depends what your wanting. A decent tyre place will use plastic coated tooles to fit your tyres and shouldnt damage the paint finish. Its just less hassle to have them coated, usually cheaper than having someone paint them for you. i had coated wheels and used mintex xtreme pads which burnt the coating and paint gives you a better finish but needs more prep work to hide small imperfections in the alloys. Yes, you usually drop them off, most coaters will do certain colours on certain days so you sometimes have to work around them but two days is about normal time from dropping them off to picking them up
