Brake squeak
« on: March 22, 2012, 01:11:55 pm »
No, not from the brakes themselves but from the brake pedal. Happens if I'm stationary too. Pressing the pedal makes a creaking/squeaking noise.

Does something need lubricating or does something need replacing?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Right, with the help of Alex, we've determined the squeak/croak comes from the front nearside caliper and not the pedal. The car does weave side-to-side more when braking. Alex reckons it veers to the right.

Any ideas what could be causing this? Would a sticking piston cause this noise?
The noise occurs whether stationary or braking.
