Do they have any performance benefits?  (i.e. would I need to inform my insurer?)

No performance benefit for silicone coolant hoses other than being possibly less perishable and less prone to surface damage - Highly unlikely and even Volkswagens don't last centuries! To clarify that: The material which Forge use for their hoses will perform better as a material but not add to bhp/tq performance.

Maybe according your particular insurer: If you have a Like-for-Like replacement policy (as Greenlight and Sky, for example) and the hoses get damaged and need replacing, then you might only receive the value of OEM hoses and not Forge's. So I would definitely inform my insurer and in the knowledge that it wouldn't effect my annual premium.

I though about getting these as i had a boost leak due to wear on the standard hoses.

but tightened all the clamps and is fine now. However if the boost leak returned i would get these to try and avoid and more leaks coming from the hoses.

Edit: just realised these are the coolant hoses

Sweet, they do look pretty cool... My insurance company are coming back to me to see if this 'modification' is allowed... Pathetic  .. They are a lot for what they are though aren't they...

....Crikey! How on earth could an insurer justify not "allowing" this mod!? There is absolutely no change to the car's performance power or even responsiveness as a result and in fact you are improving materials used. If you are planning more mods it may be better to change your insurer.

I haven't changed my cooling hoses, just my turbo charge/discharge hoses to SAMCO (similar to Forge). All silicone laminated hoses are relatively expensive.

I know mate its nuts!! They have referred it to their underwriters...  I said it isn't a performance mod if anything will make the car more reliable to a certain extent, and I used the 'like for like' quote lol! That's Admiral I'm with. They won't let me put an Intercooler on it, nor Bluefin... I imagine a remap is the same? Jeeeez...

Bluefin is a remap.

Admiral and similar mainstream insurance brokers don't understand the modding world. When it's time to renew your policy, look elsewhere to brokers like Greenlight and Sky who are far more knowledgable and are car enthusiasts themselves (at least, Greenlight are).
