Yokohama AD08 tyres - comments & suggestions?
« on: December 09, 2012, 04:37:32 pm »
Happy Sunday everyone.

I am in need of some new tyres and was looking at Yoko AD08's.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience or knows much about these tyres?.....any comments are welcomed.

Historically I've run with Conti Sports but I'm getting through a pair year!

Have them on my other car, so might not give the best comparison (mid-engined, RWD and ~320bhp/ton).

I have found them to be great in the dry, and surprisingly durable on track. They are progressive at the limit, and slide predicatively. The compound feels quite hard for a road tyre, which means they withstand abuse well, and to my surprise better than 888s. Like every Yokohama tyre I've encountered it's not a great tyre in damp or wet conditions, and possibly a little too easy to aquaplane.

Would I fit them to my Golf for general use? No. I'd rather a slightly lower dry-weather grip level, but better performance in poor weather.
