indy prices for cam and DSG oil renew
« on: May 03, 2013, 03:17:16 pm »
Hi,

I rang a local indy to get a quote on cambelt/water pump change and oil renew for DSG and was quoted the same as my locak VW garage!

£499 and £179 respectively.

There must be better prices outthere, what should i REALLY be looking to pay. Car is on 52k miles and not had this done it seems. Maybe buying it tomorrow.

Cambelt and pump should be about 300-350 from an independent/speciliast

It depends where you live, GNJ Motorsport quoted me £140 last week for a DSG service

Think I paid about £400 for a cambelt, water pump and v-belt change at my indy.

For reference I'm 375 for genuine belt, water pump and v-belt change.

To cut costs for your dsg service I would check ebay for someone selling 6 litres of VW dsg oil. Depending on your timing you can usually get the oil at a fraction of the costs that VW charges.

Here is an example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-DSG-OIL-/121104470792?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item1c32639308

Please note that I have no interests with the above ebay seller.
You will also need a dsg oil filter.

These costs really do vary a large amount depending in which part of the country you live.
This thread came up not so long ago. I had a quote of nearly £750 for cam belt and water pump from my stealer. WTF! and got the job done for around £450 from a local indy. Others have been quoted under £350.
Worth phoning around or asking for recommendations, on here, for where you are.
