Electric garage doors.
« on: May 16, 2013, 04:34:02 pm »
Up and overs or roller shutters or whichever way they open, does anyone have any experience of buying garage doors. Any reputable companies to seek out or more importantly ones to avoid. Had a search and not much turned up so over to the masses. Oh yeah...preferably someone round Bristol way.  :happy2:

Not immediately helpful, but once you've sorted the garage door, make sure you finish the job with one of these:

Electric garage doors are ok if you don't keep anything in the garage apart from a car . They are way less secure than other doors and the signal is easy to capture with a "grabber" and most people who have electric doors have a door that leads into their house too . :innocent:

As for extra security I also fitted on of these,

Been on over 5 years now and never had any trouble.  :happy2:

Pretty sure I have seen DIY electric garage door kits in B&Q @ cribbs causeway if you fancy fitting one yourself.

Thanks for the replies guys, was thinking more along the lines of replacing the up and over I've got on the garage with something more substantial. Should have explained my requirements a little better  :ashamed: I've seen the Hormann stuff and I think there's another german company offering something similiar but wasn't sure if you go straight to them or if there are companies that people have used and could recommend. The Hormann stuff looks the nuts though  :happy2:
