Driving experience - GTR, 458 or LP640
« on: July 29, 2013, 01:24:57 pm »
Hi all, I have a driving experience to book but can't choose out of the above three. All three are at the same circuit with the same amount of laps.

I'm heading away from the GTR at the moment as it's not so prestigious as the other two, even if the performance is similar.

Hi George,

I have driven all 3 and by far the best is the 458.... Unbelievable peice of kit... ticks all the boxes!

The GTR is just a beast and is very difficult to loose control off (not that you would want too!) wheras the LP640 was the most dissapointing of the three.. could just be me but I expected it to be much better.

However I did not race these on a track.. had them for a weekend each BUT I would still put my money on the 458 being the best.

I bought a track day for the girlfriend and did a LP640 and GTR for cheap on the day.

By far the GTR was more fun, the fact the person in the car with me was the owner and he was encouraging me to do insane speeds in the bends made it all the better!

I say do the GTR, they will probably have empty slots you can buy for cheap when you are there so you could get the others in as well if you change your mind!

will they let you go fast in the exotica? These experience days usually have a rep of not allowing you to push the cars

was it run by ferrari? usually the manufacturer backed days let you rag the cars.

The experience days you buy at argos or wh smith dont.

Rick

I had the same in a Ferrari 360 - was told 4th is low enough. I pulled the left paddle 1 too many times coming out of a chicane (every lap). Just got a bit of a smile from the instructor.  :jumpmove:

I did a Supercar experience on Sunday at Blyton Park and drove 3 laps in each.

1st - Porsche 997 turbo (manual)- very easy to drive fast ,very planted and solid .
2nd - Gallardo spyder (auto) - sounded epic ,shocking auto gear change so slow on up shift ,the whole car seemed to lunge forward when changed up , it did sound nice on the down shift tho.
3rd- Ferrari 430 spyder (manual) - Complete different gravy !!! My hairs still stand up on the back of my neck just thinking about it , the sound was mental , really easy to drive , the handling was unbelievable it felt light as a feather and the stearing was so sharp and accurate , and so fcking fast !!!

All in all the 911 was very good (everyday Supercar) but he 430 was in a different league altogether , I got out of the fezza after 3 laps and I was actually shaking and pumping with adrenalin  :driver:

Great day out and well organised too  :happy2:
