« on: August 31, 2009, 05:31:12 pm »
evenin all,

could somebody confirm if there should be an O-ring on the connection at the MAF end of the engine cover/intake were the 2 spring clips are please, had the cover off today to fit the catch can and noticed that there was no 0-ring, pretty sure there was one on my GTI and ED30, can't remember if there was one on the S3 and its got knocked off at sometime. Thanx :happy2:

I'm sure there should be one on there otherwise it could suck air in after the MAF has already done its business, don't suppose you could have a quick look for the part number could you

whats worrying is where has it gone, I took the turbo inlet pipe off to make sure it hadn't fallen in there . The engine cover was designed by satan as a tool of torture  Good excuse to get a full intake system :happy2:

Ok, I can see it listed as a separate part

Just to check I thing you mean the o-ring you can see here

I checked the part number of this intake pipe

And there is no o-ring listed just the pipe itself: -

its a pretty straight forward job, no pics sorry. My std PCV had developed a slight leak so changing it can only be good. I fitted the catch can in front of the battery as there is less room on the S3, but it will need relocating if I fit an intake :happy2:

I've ordered 1 now thanx Stu, you can't get the o-ring on its own, so its going to cost 20 odd quid just for an o-ring , would like to know where the original 1 went though :scared:
