My mate has just got a new 2013 A4 , he needs some help enabling video in motion in his car.

Can anyone recommend anyone who he can drop a few quid to, to get it enabled ?

Thanks for any help

You can't do VIM with VCDS.

I think you can use VCDS on the latest Audi's

see below - from this page http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?132245-A6-C7-VCDS-Tricks  i know its for the A6 C7 but from the little i've read i think the architecture is similar.  :happy2:

7. VIM
Video In Motion - prevent the car from suppressing DVD playback once the speed of the car rises above 5mph
I used the same technique as in my C6 with MMI 3G. These are the steps I followed:
[Select]
[5F-Information Electr.]
[Advanced ID - 1A]
Make a note of the Serial Number
Go to Enable VIM TV-playback using VCDS/VAG-COM in your Audi MMI | trick77.com
Follow the link for MMI 3G
Enter your serial number into the input field
Make a note of the personal login code and the alternative login code it returns
[Security Access - 16]
Enter your personal login code.
[Do it!]
If you receive a "code not valid" message try the alternative code. If neither code works it's likely that your control module doesn't support VIM adaptation.
[Adaptation - 10]
Select channel 48
Press read
Set the value from 0 to 255
Press test
Press save
Press "Done, Go Back"
Close VCDS and reboot your MMI as detailed in step 5 above

This works as expected.

What DVD player is he using Jon, is it an OEM one?

I've not yet found an OEM RNS-E that plays regular DVD's, the DVD player is simply there to read the Map DVD's (unlike the RNS510 which is a much more versatile DVD player).

I don't know whether this is a hardware or software limitation, but either way I expect he'll have to do something for it to play DVD's in the first place if it's an early 2013?
My 2012 RNS-E LED in my A3 2010 won't do anything with region 2 film DVD's as we know them  :chicken:
