Mk6 boot handle/badge
« on: October 18, 2013, 09:54:27 am »
Hi there, I was just wondering if the mk6 golf vw rear badge will clip in the original mk5 boot handle ?

I have a 07 edition 30 and have separated the vw badge away from the handle to be wrapped in carbon but I like the look of the mk6 badge more

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

Jake

Evening all  :jumpmove:

Yes indeed they can, just need to remove all but the biggest tab on the back and 9 times out of 10 it will clip straight on. Occasionally some thin double sided tape is needed on the inside edges.

You can get carbon fibre effect mk6 badges from china on eBay too  :happy2:
VCDS cable HEX-USB+CAN. New but can do the basics including coding

I am about to do this. Don't need to remove the handle to make life easier. And if so I take it it's just as simple as removing the boot trim and a few bolts to release it. I saw a guide and it mentioned removing the wiper mech. This seemed a little over top.... Or not

It's just one of the handle bolts is slightly obscured, if you loosen the wiper motor it gives enough room to get the last bolt out. :happy2:

The trim can be a bitch, goes easy on it when taking out, as it snaps easily...however it does need some effort to break it free....

If you have a handle after 2006 - therefore a 3D version then you could do it in situe. Just get a flat head under the edge of the badge and work all around the edge gently twisting and lifting up to pop up the clips from the base
