EDITION 30 IPOD IN ARMREST

Hi all, just bought an edition 30 2007, in the arm rest there is a a dock to put ipod in I haven't got sat nav just standard head unit which you put 6 discs in, when I put the my ipod or iPhone 4 on in the the arm rest nothing happens on the ipod a vw sign appears on the screen and say it doesn't support something or another, any clues anyone cheers

Don't think it'll work with an iphone.. although I'm not 100% on this... What Ipod is it?

If it's the newer style nano with touch screen etc I would have thought it not compatible..

I have a 6th generation (I think) Nano with touch screen and that works.

I assume you have the AUX function on your head unit (press the CD button)?
