caliper rebuild?

After attempting to change my rear discs and pads ive discovered my o/s rear caliper is seized which im guessing is because the bust boot is half hanging off. I can get a new caliper for £90 but due to just servicing it and twins on their way in the next month or so literally every penny counts. Would it be fine to rebuild it, give the inside of the caliper and the piston a good fine sand and clean and put new seals back in? I cant seem to find any seals for sale though. Any advice would be great. I will be paying my local garage to do it mainly because of the bloody carrier bolts are impossible to get off.

I recall reading either on here or the r32 oc forum there was a guide as how to and it included buying a new piston too. The more I think about it I am sure it was the r32 oc forum as the calipers were even more cash. Have a hunt on there

If every penny counts then yeah sand them up, very very fine stuff, new seals from VW ,TPS or anywhere you can get them should see the car out,  if money not a problem you really shouldn't sand them up but I understand why.

Also ive found a shop literally round the corner from me that sells the seal kits for £16 and a new piston for £20. If you scroll to the bottom of the page to the last caliper, you can click the seal kit and piston below, can someone confirm these are the correct items?

Just pay delivery.

If you do want to rebuild by all means do so but when you speak to brake parts ask for Jason or Mark tell them the "gay train driver" suggested you call......

My twins are three in May....trust me when I tell you you will need every frickin penny you have...................

That would be great thanks mate! Its the offside rear for a 282mm disc. Yeah i can imagine! There already sapping my funds!

  The caliper arrived the same day! and is in great condition. I offered £20 to cover postage and a few bevvies but he asked if i could donate it to the forum instead, so i did! I had a good search about caliper rebuilding and i found a lot of Daves posts in there and he was always offering sound advice and going out of his way to fit things for people for nothing. Get that man a beer!
