That depends on a number of factors such as the age of your car and the version of its CAN gateway, the revision of the RNS-510 and the firmware version the RNS-510 is running.

Essentially newer units in older cars are where the battery drain problem arises but it can be overcome by installing a newer CAN gateway or modified firmware.

Out of interest, I have been looking at RNS 510's on the used section on here, why do they vary so much in price? I've seen some go for £300ish and others asking £700 unrealistic owners or is there reason?

The ones priced at £700 ish are the DAB radio versions. The ones priced at £300 are the first gen LCD screen units, while second gen LED screen units go for up to £450 or so dependant on model etc.
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Version C onwards is LED, but the earlier C versions are LCD. The C versions with a "Star" button on the top right are LED and the C version with the "Speaker - i" button are LCD.

From firmware 4120 you also benefit from Radio text  :happy2:
Best to stay with a C rather than an A or B

I'll be advertising my version A soon as removing from my car due to being sold.

I've had this around 2 years bought and installed from Eddie-NL and although an early model it was a great
Upgrade compared to my previous RCD unit!

Will be advertising for £280 along with MFSWB, MDI and Bluetooth kit. It's a fairly cheap upgrade based on that price and transforms the dashboard with some great functions!  But if you're looking to spend more money then the later models are quicker but not sure what else you get other than LCD versus LED?

Watch this space if you're interested   :happy2:
