Tyre Pressure, Traction Control an EPC lights
« on: October 03, 2016, 08:54:32 pm »
Tyre Pressure light, momentarily followed by the other two and limp mode came on.  1 tyre has lost 0.1 bar of pressure in a week.  I've pumped up, re set and all is off.

Is this just a slight puncture, or is it not normal to have all the lights coming on!?

Do the lights come on at about 50mph by any chance? And do they go out if you pull over and restart the engine?

If so, get it checked on VDCS as probably an ABS sensor or sensor ring on bearing....commonish fault which causes those lights to come on

There's a thread for last week on general forum I think about the same subject

No it came on at about 30mph, and they were still on when I restarted it after an hour parked up.  EPC turned off aftera bit of driving, but the other two only went off when I reset the tyre pressure.

30mph - 50mph...what's 20mpb between friends!  :happy2:

I'd be getting it checked for an ABS error. No reason for the other lights to come on if it was just a tyre pressure issue.

I had an ABS bearing ring go faulty on my nearside rear and it caused the ESP, tyre pressure and ABS lights to come on, similar to what you are getting.

The EML light has no joined the party! They're not always on but is getting more frequent. It's booked in this week but... could it just be the battery is on its last legs? I know that can cause funny things to happen and it is sometimes struggling to turn over, which seemed to trigger the EML

Now only EML is on.  Bizarre.

Get it scanned with vcds. That's the only way you will know what the issue is

I once had a seemingly random selection of lights come on, some of which you've mentioned, and it turned out to be a faulty throttle body. EML, limp mode, ESP/Traction and another I'm sure but my memory fails me

An old similar thread here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,87959.0.html

It wad the throttle body!

But....

The new throttle body won't pair with the ecu! It works in a different car so it isn't a faulty new throttle body.   Ask wiring etc has been checked and the only thing left is a fault with the ecu! So it's being sent for repair

I'm not an expert with VCDS and I don't have it but I know there are steps to take in setting up the TB once it's installed.

Thanks guys, but I've got to assume that the VW/Audi specialist that it's at know how to set it up - after all the paired the throttle body to an audi to make sure the throttle body wasn't faulty, and got it working fine.
