EPC & Engine warning lights
« on: October 04, 2014, 05:40:47 pm »
Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my '05 MK5 GTI

This morning when driving to town, I noticed the EPC light had come on, so I pulled over and restarted the engine. The light came on after a few seconds followed by the engine light. There is no warning text on the screen though so I turned around to get the car home which was about 2 miles. On the way back, I noticed that I wasn't able to accelerate like previously. It is as if there is a limiter to reduce the performance or something.

The work done to the car recently by a VW garage is a new intercooler hose (the last one was leaking apparently), new front disks and pads plus front bearings and CV boots.

I had a VagCom some time ago but I cannot find it, if I do I will paste the errors on here

In the meantime does anyone have any suggestions on what this might be?

Could be worth checking the intercooler hose.

But the EPC light is usually a dead throttle body, scan it to be sure, then replace with a Revision Q.

I'm hoping it wont be too expensive! I still can't find that VagCom device, I've looked everywhere!
I don't supposed there is anyone on the Isle of Man with one? :)

Both lights have remained off since yesterday and I haven't changed anything! - This feels like good news but is there something I should do to check everything is okay - Maybe the garage knocked a sensor or something when fitting the inter-cooler hose?
