Aftermarket/OEM options
« on: March 17, 2015, 01:48:31 pm »
Hi guys, I currently have the basic RCD300 in my 06 GTI, I want to upgrade this to something that I can plug my iPhone into to play music, not really bothered about Bluetooth or SatNav, but i have the built in Nokia handsfree on the glovebox if that matters. I have a MFSW so would want something that is compatible with this, I also have the highline cluster with MFD. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket/OEM headunit to upgrade to?

Thanks

Hi,
I had a Dension Pro BT system installed with my RCD500 - similar to your RCD300. Easy to install yourself
This system enables Bluetooth music streaming from your phone where tracks are listed on the highline display, phone book access and hands free calls.
Also I had the lead connected to the unit that would allow iPhone/pod charging and direct connection. As a bonus you also get a digital fuel gauge readout in Litres!

Worked flawlessly with the RCD unit - however it didnt like my new Version R RNS510 though so bear this in mind if you go for one and plan on upgrading in the future.

Will be advertising mine very soon once I get chance to take some photos! Only 3 months old!!

That sounds ideal, do you have to code it in though? Could you show some pictures of it working with your unit to see how it looks? Also, does it support IPhone 6?
