Terraclean

Am looking at using a local terraclean dealer to clean my carbon build up.

Are they any good? And worth the £££s?

Doesn't do anything on these engines. Not sure about terra clean as a product on other cars as I've never looked into it.

Well worth cleaning your intake valve though. We did my mates 2009 s3 this evening and it feels a lot better!
Picks up better, doesn't feel jerky like it before, starting better and idle seems better to.

Mine started to feel a little jerky and lower rpm and starting issue. I read about carbon build up but totally unsure what to do, how to do it and what with. I see people with pumps that I clearly don't have.

Is there a DIY anywhere?

Had my intake off at 80K to fit new injectors and the carbon build up wasn't as bad as I was expecting, so left it.  Think I'll wait until 100K before tackling that one!

As for Terraclean, unless they come up with a super aggressive detergent that can be injected into the intake, there's no point using their service.  No one has yet come up with a quick fix of that kind.  It's either walnut shell blasting or scrubbing with brake/clutch cleaner!
