Just had a minor service at my local dealers who have at the same time got back to me on my similar sill issue - they can't do bodywork but have informed me of the nearest one who can. They are calling it a 'paint fault' rather than citing the bodywork, which is covered by the three year warranty (how convenient!), but say hey will pay for 70% as good will - the car has FVWSH @ 70k.

Is this their way of trying to get some more cash out of me in typical stealer fashion?! I think I need the pdf!  :popcornsoda:

Cheers mate - you're just too quick for me!!  :notworthy: Is that one for the sills aswell or is it effectively ammo in that direction? - surprisingly my wings are OK.

....The PDF I sent you is specifically for the wings. I don't know if it will help for rust issues elsewhere. A lot may depend on the relationship you have with your VW dealer.

Hello,
I've just found the sill rust on my wife's Golf. The dealer doesn't want to foot 100% of the cost but only contribute 50%. Is there any chance I could get a copy of the TSB mentioned in the post?

@BatforcePC there is no technical bulletin for the sills unfortunately. I emailed lots of people and they all just concern the wings.

I had the same problem and initially was offered the same contribution. However argueing that rust should not occur and it be well known in the sill area and buying approved a while back they waved in the end. This was done at the same time as the wings however do I guess it was easier as the wings were already off.
