MOT PASS No Advisories 162k :)

She lives on for another year, 162k, passed no issues.  I changed the rear pads before MOT and that was it.

Well Done old girl; Stage 2 K03 since 75k, driven pretty hard everyday, still pulls well; always fed decent fuel and twice yearly drops of Oil  :happy2:

Cheers mate, tester said he was impressed how clean she was when he saw the mileage. Just shows you, that you don't have to drive them sensibly, she's been driven fairly hard to hard all her life.  I think the regular oil drops are key.

Not sure about the 200k, I don't do massive miles in her anymore, but I'm confident she could.  :happy2:

I feel it's almost pointless selling her, considering what I could get. :happy2:

Yeah, keep it for a bit if it still ticks the boxes. Good to know it's lapped up the hard driving. That's what they're designed for I suppose.

I'm hoping to keep mine for a good few years, I don't do big miles either and I'm steadily improving and refining it. Also Stage 2 and it's good fun when you need it!

Yes mate, Stage 1/2 is bang on a fully clean system in my opinion, by that I mean standard brakes with uprated pads and new fluid, Stage 1/2 is bang on for everything but track... once you start getting into bigger power it's A LOT more money brake packs / suspension upgrades etc... all worthwhile but the standard kit (+ better pads) is nice for 240/260bhp imho.

I find the standard brakes a little bit lacking so I've got some mk7 PP/Clubsport fronts ready to go on at some point. Consumables for those aren't expensive and they should be good enough for me; I don't do trackdays.

I do however plan on going down the k04/k03 hybrid route at some point. Drawing the line in the right place is important though, like you say, it gets expensive once you reach a certain level of tune.

That's interesting mate, been away from the scene for a while, what spec is the Mk7 Performance/Club pack fronts?

Are they 4 pot? Or just bigger calipers / disc like R32/S3?  Is it straight bolt on to Mk5?

They're the same as the mk7 R caliper, so a big single piston like the tried and tested R32/S3 setup. Just a revision of those calipers really. They're a bit heavy, but they use the later 340mm disc which is a bit lighter than the 345mm version. Oh and the GTI version is red with the all important GTI logo :)

They're nothing special and didn't cost much, but should handle my sort of driving quite comfortably. I suppose I could have saved a little longer and gone for a 4 pot setup (as I'll inevitably need that if I do eventually go for a bigger turbo) but I thought it was sensible to get these on for now. I'm sure they'll sell on easily if and when I get a bigger kit, and it means I can drive with a little more security with 270bhp than I would on the 312s.

And yes, they're straight bolt on!

Cool, thanks for the info, that's good to know.  Yes the Bigger Callys are a definitely an upgrade, as you say though they are a bit heavy.
I never understood why VAG didn't employ the 4 pots from the 1.8T Cupra R, and revised them for the newer hubs, obviously a cost saving measure but still.

Cheers mate.  Definitely agree there, I tend to do mine just before the winter and in the spring.
I've only ever used Quantum 5w30 too, but I may try some expensive Millers Nano 5w40 this winter just to see.
