Brakes..... Talk to me!!

I was in the same predicament wanting to upgrade the brakes on my edition 30. I've opted to go with ttrs setup.

Looked at the 345mm R32 brakes but for not much more you can get a ttrs setup.

Can't wait to get them fitted this week.

They look massive when compared to 312mm standard setup.

 

The 14 kg TTRS discs with 370 mm are a bit worse than the 13 kg ML450 discs with 350 mm. The R32/S3 345 mm have 12 kg. With the TTRS calipers the best combo would be fitting the adaptor kit to use 345/340 mm discs. The Brembo Sport TT-S 340 mm discs just weight 10,1 kg. Pity the adaptor kit costs £ 260-270, though...

How much do the standard brakes weigh, just for comparison?

What about Leon Cupra R Brembos and discs?  Is that a good option?

I'm not sure the cupra R brembos would fit. by fit I mean the width of the disk. I think they are 323mm though

That setup was used in the mk1 Cupra R, it has a different bolt pattern from the mk5 (5x100 and not 5x112). The mk2 Leon Cupra uses the same brake setup of the R32/S3.

Your option is to use the R32 setup (heavy) or fit the NQSBBK with BBS VZ (from the A3 but with the same design of the Pescaras). You can look at @MC71 old Ed. 30 build thread. He had that setup.

OEM Rotors 312mm (7.75 kg)
OEM Caliper & Carrier (5.5kg)


OEM Rotors 345mm (12kg)
OEM Caliper & carrier ( 9kg)

yeah r32 option is the only OEM setup/upgrade.
I guess you could change to braided lines,fluid,decent pads and disks for a better setup

Ttrs brakes fitted and all I can say is Wow!!

Amazing difference and gives much more confidence when braking than the standard 312's
