EPC light clearing Performance Map?
« on: May 03, 2016, 10:18:18 am »
Hi All,

2 days ago my EPC light came on while driving. The car lost all power. I pulled over on the motorway and started the car up again.
Straight away if felt underpowered. I got home, parked the car up and didn't use it at all yesterday. I had planned on dropping it into the garage today but this morning when I turned it on the light was off. I plugged in the diagnostics and there were no faults showing.
The car feels very underpowered again compared to what it was before. I bought the car mapped to 240bhp and have also driven standard 200bhp gti's which is what it feels like now.
It got me thinking could it have cleared the newer 240bhp map off the ecu if there was some electrical blip?
Any other ideas of cause for this?

Thanks in advanced!  :happy2:

Nothing to do with the map - you can't clear a map from an ECU when clearing the fault code. The map overwrites the original so it isn't there any more to revert back to!

Data logging needed. Fault code scans on their own are useless

What diagnostics did you plug in? Most only pick up generic OBD codes and don't pick up manufacturer specifics. Even then a code alone is useless as I already said
