ENGINE RECONDITIONED? ADVICE

I have a mk5 golf GTI, with just over 100,000 miles on the clock, the engine is a little tired, and has started to show an oil pressure warning, ive taken it off the road for now, but it is my pride and joy. I am interested in getting the engine reconditioned and would like any advice and suggestions where to take it in the west Yorkshire area, the car has had quite a bit of money spent on it over the last couple of years and would like to get it running as it should, i am willing to pay for the right job.

Oil pressure warning is most likely the oil pickup pipe located in the sump, I've just had this same issue a few months ago however if your going as far as having your engine deep cleaned with carbon build up and refreshing service items, its worth doing it all at the same time.

Like above I bet the pipe up in the sump is clogged up, this was one of my first jobs on both my mk5 gti's just as a precaution. 100k is nothing for a modern engine, if it's been cared for. Do the pick up pipe, fresh oil and all filters, spark plugs and clean the intake valve and run some fuel system cleaner through it. Do timing belt. Give it a good going over, no need for a new engine providing the oil pressure isn't something serious or hasn't already caused damage internally.

Again the oil pick up pipe is most likely clogged up with gunk or swarf bits. I'd replace the pipe as it's cheap enough to buy. I spoke to a women this afternoon who has the same issue with her mk1 tt and she knew a fare bit too loolz
She's only does 3 miles a day to work and back  :signLOL:

Change pipe and get other bits cleaned out professionally  :happy2:

There's a new engine flush treatment I've seen which isn't like normal ones, it goes in through the sump and oil filter housing so you dont block the pickup pipe which is clever yah?
I think it's called EDT.

So replace the pickup pipe, do an engine flush with the above and new Millers 5w40 and you'll be good to go....

ok so I know I started this thread a while ago but my golf has been off the road a while now, I finally got around to changing the pick up/strainer, and what I found is not good, metal pieces, a rubber seal, looks like a mini condom! inside the strainer, there was also metal pieces in the sump, could anybody advise as to what these are.

I cant figure out how to attach images.

I would just replace the pick up pipe and start it up. Could be anything
Especially since you don't show us pictures..

images can be loaded with photobucket and as mentioned above you should start it if you've replaced the pipe and see how it goes.
