Newbie from devon
« on: December 09, 2016, 06:22:29 pm »
Hi new here and to golf's.
Have worked on my sisters golf gt tdi a few times but have never owned one myself....
Until now. Have just bought a mk5 gti 2.0 tfsi with the axx engine. Was told by the bloke the timing belt had snapped and had bent valves apparently confirmed by a compression test.
The engine was already partly stripped by the last owner so today I continued to strip it and removed the head. Well there was no bent valves but I did discover a fair bit of play in the exhaust side of the turbo. It turns out the block is seized

what is the code for the ed30? I'm going to strip the block this week and take it to my engineer and get a quote for a rebuild of both block and oil pump.
