Right here goes got a gti dsg o7.  88 thousand been maintained.  I was driving and a piece of black metal fell off under car so took it to garage gear box bolts missing drive shaft bolts missing all replaced.  Then started getting slight knock in the cabin when the car is in d or r. Whilst in park nothing in n or p.   They said it fly wheel had it replaced still knocking getting worse !!  300 miles ago it was replaced.  Now it's making a clutter or sound like the flywheel gone again marbles in tin can   I trust the guy who fitted fly wheel so I know he not a rip off.   Showed me the one he took off and had play in it   Anyway now when pulling off just before 1000 rpm the car clatters and sounds terrible until over 1300 rpm.   Sounds like something loose in the gearbox. It doesn't make clatter when reversing at these rpm.  I had belts done chain done etc I at the end of my patience with it.  No one can give a answer as what is wrong the guy who fitted flywheel is going look at it but I have no hope lol.  The piece that fell off was back and 10 inch long.   I was on the motorway so no way of retire I got it.  Any idears I was thinking the locking subframe but I just cannot see the fly wheel going again after 300 miles.  But it sounds like it.  I have not had the chain adjuster done just tensioner and chain.  Please help

I've had plenty new dual mass flywheels faulty from replacement install and quality original equipment ones, especially on the MKIV golf

DMFs do have a fair bit of play, even when new.  Well over a cm of rotational play.  Lateral play is the one to look out for.  They are just pieces of crap full stop, and should never have been used in the first place!
