I purchased a cheap phone holder from ebay, then took it apart from the windscreen suction pad and stuck it to a brodit clip. This clips into the left side of the Radio and leaves no holes or any other damage. It's nicely angled towards me when I'm driving as well, and handy for the charger if needed from the power socket below.

Total cost about £15.00

Do like your trim, very nice.  I keep mine in the under seat drawers now as per http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=10829.0 (as have bluetooth kit)

Put my iPhone on the top of the covered cup holder thing (the bit with the can opener in - that is useless at holding cups or cans)

Hardly ever slips off and is in the right place to charge.  Got bluetooth and sat nav built in so sometimes it stays in my pocket.
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.
