New Brake discs & pads

Hi all,

I’m sure you’ll agree that the stock brakes on the GTI are not that great at all. I’ve had my GTI for 3 months now and I haven’t had it on a dyno yet, but I feel like it is already Stage 1.

Anyways, the stopping power isn’t that great. At first I was going to go for a full brake kit but people said there’s no point as those are for big power. People suggested to just get a good set of discs and pads.

I’ve been looking at EBC and the EBC Yellowstuff Pad & Blade Sport Disc Kit PD18KF012 is standing out to me.

First question: would you recommend them?

Second question: Do I just need front brakes or rear as well? EBC sells the front ones for £269.99.

New to all this, so any advise would be appreciated.

I’ve been meaning to ask this too, what brake setup do people have. Of course my GTI can stop fast with stock brakes but still not as good as I would want.

You'd be better off putting the money into a MK7 Performance Pack or MK7 R brake upgrade.  Just the fronts, rears aren't a necessity.

Yellow stuff pads are worse than OEM pads, avoid.

OEM discs and Mintex M1144 pads would be a good initial upgrade.

I have a set ofMK7 Performance Pack calipers and Discs which I bought last year, but have never got round to fitting them.
