Hi all I'm new lol. Dsg question
« on: May 03, 2019, 07:28:17 pm »
Hi all I've got GTI I've just rebuilt and changed the engine for a byd, since I never drove the car before I bought. Any way since having it up and running when pulling away its lutches not smooth and when reversing it's really juddery has any one experienced this or know what the possible cause could be other than that and needing to be mapped it drives faultlessley. Any advise would be greatly received thanks all hope to speak to you all more often

Isn’t there some sort of reset you can do for the DSG? So that it will start to relearn your driving style.

As Red Warrior said I’m sure a relearn of the TCU can be performed using VCDS. Might be worth one of the more knowledgeable chaps on here (Pudding???) advising??

Cheers

Thanks did the relearn last night and still the same no fault codes. I've worked on a few dsg in the past but never had this problem with them so a little puzzled  :sad1:

Hey so as the members above said a DSG reset should be the first point of action. So to do that, do you have access to VCDS? If so then here’s the official link on how to do it..
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/6-Speed_Direct_Shift_Gearbox_(DSG/02E)
^ It looks complicated but really isn’t once you have VCDS open in front of you :)

I had the same issue as you with my GTI.. the reset didn’t really do much except for changing shifting points etc so I went to VW to get a DSG Service. After this boom it’s the smoothest gearbox and drive ever. Going into reverse or drive has no roughness at all and overall felt the difference instantly.

That’s a very good point! If you’re not aware when the last DSG oil/filter was done that could be the issue. I did mine myself as it’s easy if you have a hydraulic ramp as I have

@ljc19630 that’s at least the second thread you’ve used that photo in. Please stop using it as you’re making me jealous of that lift :signLOL:

So, I’ve had mine about 6 weeks and it was perfect. One retired owner from new, 34k on a 55 plate. Initially the box was as good as the wifes new 5 series but, I pulled away from the lights in the wet about a fortnight ago and the esp kicked in and since then it’s been as described above, bit lumpy, bit slow to change down etc. Thought I’d ruined it but you reckon a service will bring it back? Or have I done something else?
Cheers
