Armrest CD Changer removal?

Hi guys,

Can anyone give me a few pointers on how to remove the CD changer from the armrest housing?

Ive done a few searches but not come up with anything of a how to.

go to local halfords buy yourself some autoleads stereo removal tools for VW.

put them into the 2 holes in CD changer and pull out of armrest.

job done.

Yep, they're the one's. Simply push the tools in and pull the changer out.

Just further thought on this thread... Once the CD changer has been removed, is there anything that could be installed that could make use of the empty space?

Please forgive the thread bump (got to be a record), but I have done exactly the steps above to remove my CD changer, using the same removal tools.

One side releases but the other is resolutely stuck (the one closest to the hinge). Is there a secret to getting it to release or any additional fixings that might have been missed? I can’t even get the keys out!

Got it out eventually but it wasn’t pretty. Had to pull the face off! All done now.

For those of you considering doing this, I recommend the Autoleads FP-009 cubby. Simple push fit and looks factory. Great for storing phones and the like.
