Can't Communicate with Rear nearside Passenger Door - Golf GTI Mark V 2007

Hi Guys
Hoping for some advice on an ongoing issue.

About a month ago the central locking on my rear left hand side passenger door stopped working. Door would not lock/ unlock from key fob or drivers door switch. It stayed in the locked position. It would not open from the inside using the rear door interior lever. Only way to get it open was to use interior lever and exterior handle on rear door at the same time. To lock it, have to use the key pressed through the emergency lock hole on the door (after removing the rubber cover). Electric window on door does not work either using the rear door or driver door controls. I've run a scan and VCDS tells me that it cannot even reach the rear door control module so no communication with it. I've replaced the rear door wiring harness with a brand new VW one and replaced the lock module  with a Fibi Belstein new lock module. I've also replaced the rear door motor/ control module. Still nothing works and still no communication. I've taken the driver's door card and outer skin off and can't see anything wrong. All other doors operate normally as they should. Last VCDS scan is below. The car went in for a major service last week at VW Sevenoaks. (teh problem existed before this). All they indicated was that there was a problem with the rear door window that would need investigating (£120).

 Latest scan below, which identifies a wrong coding issue in a module but I can't seem to find one with the rear door module. Could it be a coding issue with driver's door module? I replaced the radio/CD player with a VW Sat Nav system early last year (Sat NAv system was one that arrived with last editions of Mark 5 and featured in Mark 6) and installed a new Canbus gateway module (to avoid battery drain issue) early last year with no problems. All doors were fine including rear passenger n/s one.

I'm at a loss and would welcome any advice/ suggestions. Not keen to fork out on a new driver's door wiring harness (£200) or driver's door window motor/ control module (£££+) just yet in case it's a coding issue.

(the car is very low mileage - 49,000 and the iding problem has already been fixed)

Ok so a few things. The door modules if not OEM and replaced could be a different variant i don't think some parts of the world got deadlocks (safe lock) others did, drive on other side of road so maybe locks referred to wrong, maybe lite up doorlocks that sort of thing. This would account for coding errors and communication ones. Also there are 2 modules in the doors IIR one is the door lock mechanism itself. The other is the window up/down regulator motor. I think the wiring for the lock goes through the window regulator? So its possible that's actually at fault and not the lock module. Your best bet would be to get things reset to default values. The features and things enabled should be the same for left/right hand rear doors so you could go through the one thats working and check for differences.

The one door fault says intermittent also implying it had some communication issues but has managed to connect at some point (would hint at a power/earth/switch issue) was this an old code and has it came back since clearing codes?

thanks for the response and advice.a reset to factory coding may be the way to go. i can’t see what values are in the control
module for rear passenger door as vcds can’t reach it so can’t  check its coding. i can’t figure out what the coding error is that’s referred too/ i’ve gone through the coding for the drivers door and the convenience control module and all seems fine but i’m no expert.
thinking about it further i think i have to try  replacing the drivers door locking module (ordered used one from vwstevens) and the main wiring harness (becoming quite hard to get these now it seems). MOT coming up end of feb…thanks again

Thought I'd provide an update on progress.
Whilst trying to solve the issue of no communication with rear n/s passenger door, the Drivers door intermittently stopped locking and had to use but key to lock/ unlock it. I bought a replacement lock module from VWStevens (VW breakers) and fitted it. Drivers door would now close but not lock at all. Refitted original locking module, could not get the door to fully close so couldn't lock it. No amount of adjusting the position of the lock module would rectify this. So bought a genuine VW locking module from TPS  (£250) and fitted it yesterday. Tested it mechanically before closing the door and all seemed fine. I closed the drivers door (it closed perfectly) and locked it with the key fob. Success, it locked. EXcept now it will not open - from the inside or outside. I cannot get the door open at all. Whilst I'd put the outer skin back on, I'd left off the plastic trim along the inside edge of the door (one that hides all the bolts). I took the skin off the o/s rear passenger door which enabled me to access the driver's door locking cradle screw (Torx 20) in order to remove the driver's door handle. This gave me access to the tension wire for the lock, which I've pulled but the door still will not open.  I'm completely flumoxed by this. I now can't get the driver's door open at all. Any advice/ suggestions would be very much welcomed

hi, thanks for the response. your images are for the rear passenger door, which has one wiring harness that runs from the locking module (your bottom image) down through the rubber boot (your top image). i replaced that harness. i also replaced the similar harness for the driver’s door- both new original vw parts from TPS.

Ah I see, I thought the rear had two looms like the front. Sorry about that. My advice would be taking the car to a specialist considering what you’ve checked/replaced already.
