Have you tried some diluted APC (All Purpose Cleaner) stuff I have says its good to degrease an engine neat, but with 20-1 dilution that I made up for cleaning some seats it did a great job on the engine bay.

5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons. Retrofitted - Cruise, RNS 510, MFSW, Armrest, Skoda BT, 6cd changer, Monza II's, VW speaker upgrade kit, Lux pack, High-line, new CAN gateway, Polar FIS info display, R32 tinted rear lights, RVC

To Come...NQSBBK, highline CCM.

Autosmart Tardis for removing tar & glue on the panels and I use G101 at various dilutions on the engine bay and door shuts and for some bling i use finish or AS viynl and rubber to dress the engine bay. All are cheap as chips and do the job. Megs APC is good as well but slightly more dearer and in a 3.78L container only, AS stuff 5L's as well
If you cant find a AS rep or dont want to buy 5L of the stuff drop me a pm :happy2:

As has already been mentioned, Tardis should do the job.  Alternatively you could try any good degreaser and it should do the job - Duragloss 420 is a good cleaner and degreaser in our opinion

Hope this helps
